Synaptogenesis is an annual event held in the fall and it is a celebration of the research accomplishments of PiNBAC Scholars, BS/MS students from MSM and research assistants in the neuroscience community. We feature speakers and a poster session to share scientific progress and practice communication skills.

To get involved keep an eye out in Fall 2025 for information on poster presenting! Email chloe_denelsbeck@hms.harvard.edu with any questions.

Elements of the Symposium

  • Research Talks

The Synaptogenesis RA Symposium features research talks presented by PiNBAC trainees and, for the first time in 2024, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) Neuroscience BS/MS students. These talks showcase a range of neuroscience research, highlighting the amazing work being done by early-career scientists. The presentations provide a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with cutting-edge research, gain insights into various areas of neuroscience, and foster collaboration across the HMS and MSM neuroscience community.

  • Poster Session

The Poster Session at the Synaptogenesis RA Symposium provides an annual opportunity for 50+ research assistants/technicians to present their neuroscience research to the broader Harvard neuroscience community. This session fosters connections, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas across different stages of research. Check back in Fall 2025 for details on the next Poster Session!

  • Partnership with the Morehouse School of Medicine

This year, we welcomed rising MSM BS/MS Master's students to HMS on September, 24, 2024 to give research presentations alongside HMS PiNBAC trainees at the third annual Synaptogenesis RA Symposium. Synaptogenesis was created to provide a platform for HMS research assistants and post-baccalaureate trainees to present their research to the neuroscience community; this year we were delighted to expand the program to include our colleagues from MSM!
