The Department of Neurobiology has many opportunities to share results with the community through informal science clubs. Please check out the Events page for more information.

Systems Club

Systems Club is a forum of neuroscientists who share interest in the latest developments in systems neuroscience, broadly defined. Each session is led by a trainee who presents their results in a casual setting to members of the Harvard community. Open discussion and feedback on preliminary data is the core of this gathering. If you are interested, please contact Paolo Capelli (paolo_capelli@hms.harvard.edu) to participate or present your work.

RL and the Brain

How do animals learn useful behaviors from trial and error, and how do the underlying neural circuits work? This type of learning, known as reinforcement learning (RL), has become a major topic of study within both neuroscience and AI. Harvard Medical School's biweekly RL and the Brain Seminar provides a space for trainees to discuss the latest research in RL broadly construed, including everything from dopamine neurobiology to building agents that beat humans at Atari games. By featuring research talks that capture a broad range of perspectives, we aim to help researchers connect ideas from disparate parts of the field. If you are interested, please contact John Vastola (john_vastola@hms.harvard.edu) to participate or present your work.

Molecular Neuroscience Club

An initiative of the Neurobiology, Cell Biology, and BCMP Departments at HMS, this club is dedicated to presenting progress in the field of molecular neuroscience writ large, from the structural biology of sensory receptors, to mitophagy, to neurotransmitter release (and everything in between). If you are interested in participating or presenting your work, please contact Andy Chen (andy_chen@hms.harvard.edu) or Annunziato Morabito (annunziato_morabito@hms.harvard.edu).
